Benefits Of LED Lighting

Nowadays, Light Emitting Diodes or LEDs are catching attention from consumers and because of this, lots of LEDs products are emerging in the market. A LED is a semiconductor device that converts electricity to light by using the movement of electrons. This is a small and solid light bulb that is exceptionally energy-efficient and can last for a long time. It functions differently from conventional incandescent light bulbs. LEDs lights also offer many benefits compared to incandescent, neon and compact fluorescent lights.

At present, LED lights are being utilized in lots of applications such as residential and architectural lighting, electronic and gaming, broadcasting, industrial automation and controls, automotive, traffic and safety and transportation. True to being an energy-efficient light, LEDs use up to 90% less power compared to incandescent bulbs. This gives LED an edge over incandescent light bulbs due to the fact that it only consumes a fraction of power which is good in reducing the power consumption.

Having the advantage of low power usage, these lights are being used for light sources in remote areas which are using solar panels. Consumers not only save energy but as well as they save money from high electrical bills. Even if the initial cost of LEDs is costly compared to traditional light bulbs, the cost can be greatly and easily recovered in the long run. Another benefit of using LEDs is that they have a lifespan of 60,000 hours over 1,500 hours of incandescent bulbs. LEDs can last up to 10 times longer than bulbs and 133 times longer than typical incandescent bulbs. They greatly help in reducing the maintenance cost and lower long-term operating cost compared to traditional bulbs.

LEDs are more durable due to the reason that these lights are not made up of glass or filaments but instead LEDs are solid state lighting devices that use semiconductor material instead of filament or neon gas. Another benefit of using LEDs is it improved safety. They create no heat making them safe to touch and can be on for hours without incident or outcome if touched reducing the potential hazards such as burns or fires.

Also, LEDs are more convenient to use because it is environmentally friendly. LEDs are made from non-poisonous materials compared to fluorescent bulb that uses mercury that may offer danger to the environment. These lights are also recyclable and regarded as green meaning earth-friendly. LEDs have different base colors namely red, green, blue and amber which is an added benefit unlike incandescent bulbs use filters to produce colors making them inefficient.
